Jackpot! 777.

That’s what my slot-machine scales said this morning at this half-way point. Phew (sigh).

7 weeks down and weighing in at 77.7kg, just 0.7kg off a 7kg weight-loss.

I refer to the “one-armed-bandits” not just because the numbers are coincidentally what often “pays out” at the casino but also because my scales, like the “pokies”, can be a bit random at times.

I do believe it’s all too easy to become fixated on the day-to-day numbers. I’m just as guilty of this but I bet (excuse the pun) many others trying to shed a kg or two are too.

As I’ve often said, the process should be a transition to healthy eating. Not a temporary diet but a change in lifestyle.

Yet it’s not as hard as you may think. True, it does require an acknowledgement that sugar is the culprit.

But because it doesn’t involve calorie counting or some crazy, no carbohydrate at night, protein-biased, kidney-damaging, extreme starvation diet, it’s incredibly practical and not at all stressful.

Remember, you’ve gotta be in it to win it!
