Work work work work work.

It’s all we ever seem to do these days.

10-12 hour shifts are becoming more and more commonplace. I know I regularly work 12 or more hours in a day.

So it’s important to find the time in between the frantic pace to actually do something for yourself.

It may be as simple as grabbing a 10-minute break to stretch the legs and absorb some sunshine.

Or it may be ensuring you take that 1/2-hour lunch break which should then be spent away from the desk.

Ideally, you’ll find the time to do some exercise too. Even if it’s just a quick walk around the block.

Recent articles in the SMH have highlighted the risks associated with a sedentary workplace job linking it to higher mortalities.

Yet I’m sure that even without studies telling us this we all know that prolonged sitting isn’t good for us.

But what are you going to do about it?

Personally, I try to stand more and more at work these days.

And also walk to and from work combined with public transport where possible.

But has anyone else got some bright ideas? What about some cool exercises to do at work?
