The staple diet here in Japan consists, not surprisingly, primarily of rice.

It comes either as a main ingredient in sushi or in a separate bowl when ordering another dish.

They have a great system here of relatively cheap meals on offer at lunchtime usually served with a bowl of miso soup and a side salad. A wide selection is available with generous portion sizes that don’t leave you feeling hungry whatsoever.

I’ll need to be careful that I don’t over indulge.

But I would also like to find a restaurant that serves brown rice as it’s less processed than regular white rice and therefore much healthier because it has more fibre.

Still, I’m not complaining. If there is one thing I’ve noticed about the food here in general is that they appreciate good quality produce.
