Miso soup is the Japanese idea of soup.
But it’s not some big, hearty winter meal served with crusty bread that can be very filling. The sort we in the West are used to.
Instead, it’s more often a small side bowl served with the meal.
Personally, I’ve always liked it. I know it often has tofu in it and that’s not necessarily to everyone’s taste. Neither is the idea of eating seaweed.
But I find it’s nice way to begin a meal.
Mind you, there seems to be many variations on the theme with different ingredients utilised.
It’s a pleasant voyage of discovery.
