where the streets have no name

U2 have to be one of my favourite bands. I just can’t get enough of them.

And what could be better than running to a song like this one in a foreign city where the streets have no name, for all intents and purposes.

No wonder I used it as the title for a series of images created in the early hours of the morning when I would wander the streets and lane ways of Tokyo alone.

lyrics

“I wanna run, I want to hide
I wanna tear down the walls
That hold me inside
I wanna reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name

I want to feel sunlight on my face
I see the dust cloud disappear
Without a trace
I want to take shelter
From the poison rain
Where the streets have no name

Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name

We’re still building, then burning down love
Burning down love, and when I go there
I go there with you, it’s all I can do

The city’s a flood and our love turns to rust
We’re beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled in dust
I’ll show you a place
High on a desert plain
Where the streets have no name

Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name

We’re still building, then burning down love
Burning down love, and when I go there
I go there with you, it’s all I can do

Our love turns to rust
We’re beaten and blown by the wind
Blown by the wind, oh, and I see our love
See our love turn to rust

Oh, we’re beaten and blown by the wind
Blown by the wind
Oh, when I go there, I go there with you
It’s all I can do”

  1. Oh yea…I have seen them live 2 or 3 times…even tooks pictures with them. They are an amazing band and guys :). Music is such a universal language…
I owe you an email…hoy…i am getting forgetful and old lol.

  2. Old? Too funny! I’m know what I’m going to write if that’s what it’s about: a song. Or at least the lyrics to a song. It’s been a while since I dd this so fingers crossed its not too stressful. But your poetry has inspired me to try it again. If I have time I’ll get my friend to compose the music. So perhaps the second date would work better? Or we could a follow-up 🙂 But either way it’s fine.

    God bless. Kim*

  3. I’ve also run to this song and several other U2 songs. I always run with my music – most of my songs have a fast beat.

  4. Great band – and a great post. I love the idea of running to this song… not sure why I hadn’t thought of it, since they have a great strong beat and are so inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing this!
